Making your clients' giving go further, forever.
Many of your clients want to make a lasting difference in their community but may not know how to ensure their giving has the biggest impact. The Christchurch Foundation works alongside professional advisors like you to help your clients integrate philanthropy into their financial planning. Whether it’s leaving a legacy, setting up a fund, or making strategic grants, we simplify the process and maximise the impact.

As an advisor, you are in a unique position to guide your clients through major financial and estate planning decisions.

PHILANTHROPY
is not just for those with great means, it's for those who mean to do great.

WHY THE CHRISTCHURCH FOUNDATION?

Research consistently shows that clients value discussions with their financial or legal advisors about charitable giving, and it’s easy to see why. Connecting with clients on a deeper level about their core values offers you a significant point of difference, and enables you to bring a more holistic financial and estate planning approach.
It’s not only about building your relationship with your client, but also a way to benefit the greater Christchurch community. When an advisor brings up the topic of charitable giving, clients are up to three times more likely to donate. Gifting through the Christchurch Foundation enables our city, and the surrounding districts, to meet the social and philanthropic aspirations of its residents. It is an investment in the future of our region, for everyone.
Community Foundations, like ours, are not about one single cause; we are about a place and its people. Through us, donors can choose which local projects they want to invest in to create meaningful change. We provide strategic advice to donors to help them make an informed philanthropic investment. What’s more, we help measure the impact of their generosity and report back.

“Knowing the difference in types of giving can be a real ‘eye opener’ for clients. Most are delighted to discover more strategic ways beyond traditional charitable giving.”

WAYS YOUR CLIENTS CAN GIVE
There are a variety of ways for your clients to give through The Christchurch Foundation. All options can be designed to help them make the most of tax benefits during their lifetime, maintain their financial security and of course look after their family first.

We work in partnership with you. Whether it is supporting you or dealing directly with your clients, we will always respect and work within the relationships you have established.

Setting Up a Named Fund
Your clients can establish a Named Fund to support causes that matter most to them. These funds can be:

-
Donor-Advised Funds: Your client advises that they’d like to give some money to The Christchurch Foundation, and how they’d like it spent. They may take advice from the Foundation. The donor commits to a certain time frame and amount given, and is often actively involved in decision-making.
-
Endowment Funds: Your client may wish to invest with The Christchurch Foundation. The surplus is returned back to the community at either the donor's or the Foundation’s wishes, in perpetuity, through grants.
-
Pass-Through Funds: For clients who want to distribute funds to a specific place, entity or cause, in a shorter timeframe.

Leaving a Gift in a Will
Your clients can leave a legacy by naming The Christchurch Foundation in their will. They can specify:

-
A set dollar amount
-
A percentage of their estate
-
Residual estate after family bequests

We can provide sample will clauses and guidance on structuring their gift.

Trust Management & Simplification
If your client has an existing charitable trust or is considering setting one up, we offer:

-
Full administration support, reducing compliance and governance burdens
-
Investment management for long-term impact
-
Flexibility to support causes now or in the future
