The Christchurch Foundation is proud to support the Rod Donald Banks Peninsula Trust who are purchasing this substantial block and bring it into public ownership in July 2021.
With your support Te Ahu Pātiki will achieve:
- A highly visible landscape transforming to native forest,
- A biodiversity hotspot completing a 1700ha network of continuous protection,
- A protected catchment from summit to sea – ki uta ki tai,
- A stunning recreational asset for walking, biking and climbing, and,
- Secure public access on Te Ara Pātaka, the Ōtautahi/Christchurch to Akaroa tramping network
The land is to be protected in perpetuity with a conservation covenant and managed to facilitate natural regeneration of native forest. Income from the carbon sequestered in this forest will fund the management in time to come.
Please donate generously now to help us raise $600,000 and reach our target of $1,500,000 - the amount needed to purchase the land and establish this wonderful place as a conservation park where native forest can flourish once again and people are free to walk and explore.
Please contact Suky Thompson, Manager of the Rod Donald Banks Peninsula Trust on manager@roddonaldtrust.co.nz if you're interested in becoming in a major sponsor or would like more information about the project.
Our four suggested donation levels reflect the natural regeneration process:
Tiny Pekapeka creep and carpet rocky areas - below $1,000
Delicate Kātote unfurl to shade the streams - $1,000 - $9,999
Strong Tī Kōuka punch through the gorse - $10,000 - $49,999
Mighty Tōtara return to stand for centuries - $50,000 +

Sports Inclusivity Fund

After the March 2019 terror attack, the Christchurch community was left devastated. As a way to increase inclusivity, Sport Canterbury, Sport New Zealand and the Christchurch City Council are supporting greater participation in sport and physical activity amongst Christchurch’s minority groups.
Women’s Fund

Our city has a proud history of women facilitating ground-breaking societal change. In order to recognise this, and to ensure this proud legacy continues, we have formed this fund to support women and girls in our city who are change-makers.
