Countdown, SuperValue and FreshChoice customers can now donate to The Christchurch Foundation’s Our People, Our City Fund at checkouts nationwide.

Countdown, SuperValue and FreshChoice have also committed $150,000 to the fund, including $50,000 of grocery vouchers for help with essentials for families, and immediate food support is also being provided through Countdown’s food rescue charity partners in Christchurch.

Countdown Managing Director, Natalie Davis, says: “We are all deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic loss of life and injury in Christchurch. All New Zealanders are looking for ways they can show their care and support for families who have been impacted. By making donation boxes available at all our 180 stores nationwide, we’re giving customers a simple way for them to help, no matter where they live.”

All Countdown, SuperValue and FreshChoice stores, distribution centres and support offices will observe a minute’s silence on Friday, 22 March at 1.40pm in remembrance of those who lost their lives in this terrible tragedy.
